Tinubu Raises Concern over Wanton Killings across the Country

President Bola Tinubu has condemned the killing of innocent people under the guise of religion or financial interest, stressing that no religion supports violence or the taking of innocent lives.

Speaking during Eid prayers at the Dodan Barracks prayer ground in Obalende, Lagos, President Tinubu urged Nigerians, particularly Muslims, to embrace the true message of Eid-ul-Adha, which centres on love for God, love for humanity and obedience to the Almighty.

The President called for an end to hatred, discrimination and violence, urging citizens to value human life and show genuine love regardless of religious, ethnic or social differences.

“Every Nigerian should embrace the spirit of tolerance at all times so as to have a more peaceful and united nation,” he said.

Also speaking, the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, appealed to Nigerians to obey the rule of law and live peacefully with one another, noting that peaceful coexistence remains essential for national growth and development.

In his sermon, the Chief Imam of Lagos State, Sheikh Sulaimon Abou-Nollah, emphasised that peace and unity must remain a collective national priority.

He described terrorism and all forms of violence as ungodly acts that should never be tolerated or encouraged.

Other dignitaries at the Eid prayer ground included Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; former Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola; National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; and Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa.
