IGP Launches ‘Operation Kosaye’ to Wipe Out Kidnappers, Criminal Hideouts in Lagos, Ogun

LAGOS – Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has launched Operation Kosaye, a coordinated security offensive aimed at rooting out kidnappers, bandits and other violent criminals operating across Lagos and Ogun States.

The operation, whose name means “No Chance”, is part of renewed efforts by the Nigeria Police Force, with support from the Lagos and Ogun State governments, to dismantle criminal networks, clear forests and border communities serving as hideouts, and restore public confidence in security across the two states.

Speaking during the launch at the Police Training School in Iperu, Ogun State, the Commissioners of Police for Ogun and Lagos states, Bode Ojajuni and Tijani Fatai, disclosed that the operation has already recorded significant successes.

According to the police chiefs, operatives have rescued five kidnap victims abducted along the Ijebu-Ode–Sagamu–Benin Expressway, neutralised five suspected kidnappers and arrested four other suspects in ongoing operations.

They explained that security personnel have combed identified forests, bushes and criminal hideouts across Lagos and Ogun, including border communities adjoining Ondo and Oyo states, leading to the dismantling of illegal camps and shanties used by criminal gangs.

The commissioners further stated that no resident is currently being held captive within the operational areas, attributing the development to sustained intelligence-led operations and coordinated security patrols.

They urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue supporting security agencies by providing credible information on criminal activities, particularly reports involving individuals with gunshot wounds or suspicious movements, to the nearest police station.
