Today , Governor Seyi Makinde rushed to odogbo Military Barracks Ojoo Hospital to visit the rescued victims of the Orire kidnapping.
While we are glad the victims are receiving medical attention and are safe, the people of Oyo State must know the truth: this rescue had nothing to do with Governor Makinde.
WHERE WAS GOVERNOR MAKINDE WHEN IT MATTERED?
When the school children and their teachers were kidnapped in Orire, and their lives were hanging in the balance, Governor Seyi Makinde was in Bauchi State playing politics.
He was not coordinating security. He was not on ground. He was not leading any rescue operation.
You cannot abandon your duty in a crisis and later come back for camera and glory.
WHO DID THE REAL WORK?
The rescue of the Orire abductees was achieved solely through the intervention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and our gallant security agencies: the Army, Police, DSS, other federal operatives, Amotekun and Hunters .
It was the directive and resources from President Bola Tinubu that activated the operation. It was the bravery of our security forces that entered the forest, engaged the kidnappers, and brought our children and teachers back alive.
To attempt to take credit now is the height of deceit and political desperation.
OYO PEOPLE ARE NOT FOOLISH
This is the same pattern of malaadministration of deceit we have seen for 7 years:
Take pictures after the work is done. Take glory for federal efforts. Blame Abuja when things go wrong.
Governor Makinde cannot govern by press release and visitation. Security of lives is the primary duty of government. Where was that duty when the abduction happened? After repeated security reports and warnings
OUR POSITION
We commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his swift action.
We salute our security agencies for their professionalism and courage and the local hunters .
We pray for the quick recovery of the victims.
To Governor Makinde: Oyo people see through the theatrics. Stop politicizing pain. Stop taking glory for what you did not do.
2027 is near. Oyo people will choose a leader who is present in crisis and not one who only appears for photo ops.
The rescue was done by Tinubu. The credit belongs to Tinubu and our security forces. Period.
