The Kebbi State Police Command announced on Monday that Justice Faruk Hassan Bunza, a High Court judge abducted from his residence in Bunza Local Government Area last week, has been released.
SP Bashir Usman, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, confirmed the development in a statement issued in Birnin Kebbi, noting that the release was verified by the judge’s family and the State Ministry of Justice.
Although the abductors had demanded a ransom, the police maintained their firm stance against ransom payments.
Authorities stated that security agencies have intensified investigations to track down and prosecute the perpetrators.
The police urged members of the public to provide useful intelligence to assist the investigation, assuring that all information will be treated with absolute confidentiality.
