President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to depart Abuja on Thursday, October 29, 2026, for Makkah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to perform Umrah, the lesser Islamic pilgrimage to the Holy City.
According to a statement released on Wednesday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the visit offers the President an opportunity for personal spiritual reflection, devotion, and prayers focused on Nigeria’s peace, unity, stability, and ongoing development.
“While in Makkah, President Tinubu will perform the religious rites associated with Umrah, seeking Allah’s guidance and blessings for Nigeria and its people,” Onanuga stated.
Prior to his departure from the Federal Capital Territory, President Tinubu will perform an official engagement at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, where he is slated to commission newly acquired operational equipment for the Nigerian Air Force (NAF).
The President is expected to return to the country next week upon concluding his spiritual exercise in Makkah
