DNA Results Rule Out Davido as Biological Father of Anu — Adeleke Family Sets Record Straight

The long-running controversy over whether international music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, fathered a young girl named Anuoluwapo “Anu” Adeleke has taken a decisive turn, according to fresh statements from the singer’s family.

At a press conference held in Lagos on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, Adedeji Adeleke, billionaire businessman and father of Davido, addressed the decade-old paternity saga that has periodically resurfaced in public discussion. Speaking to journalists and supporters, he said that DNA test results have clearly shown that Anu is not his son’s biological daughter.

Adedeji Adeleke opened his remarks by acknowledging the sensitivity of the issue and the emotional toll it has taken on everyone involved. He described the renewed debate, triggered by an appeal from a teenage girl on social media seeking confirmation of her paternity as “unnecessary,” but said it was time to put factual evidence on the table. According to him, multiple DNA analyses have been completed, and none indicate that Davido is Anu’s father.

“Our family has no reason to deny any child,” Adeleke told the press. “If the science had shown that this child was my granddaughter, we would have welcomed her with open arms.” He reiterated that five separate DNA tests were carried out to verify the paternity claims and that all of them returned results excluding Davido as the biological father.

Adeleke also provided context to the support his family has offered Anu over the years. He revealed that, despite the negative DNA outcomes, he has consistently contributed to the girl’s school fees and general upkeep, sending funds through her aunt, who regularly provided receipts and purchase records. According to him, this financial support was done quietly and independently of his son.

“I did not discuss this matter with David or anybody else,” the patriarch stated. “I took it upon myself to help where I could. That is who we are as a family.”

Adeleke stressed that he was declining calls to publicly release the DNA reports, citing concerns over privacy and security risks if sensitive genetic data were disclosed in the public domain. He emphasised that DNA profiles are highly personal and could expose both Davido and the minor to unnecessary danger if circulated widely.

The press briefing comes in the wake of a social media letter allegedly written by Anu in mid-January, in which she stated that she has endured years of bullying and mockery from classmates who questioned her identity because of claims linking her to Davido. That public appeal reignited public interest in a dispute that has been part of Nigerian entertainment headlines for more than ten years.

Despite the Adeleke family’s assertions, not all parties agree on how many DNA tests have taken place or the circumstances in which they were conducted. Anu’s mother, Ayotomide Labinjoh, has previously disputed claims of multiple testing, insisting that only a single test was carried out in a small clinic and raising calls for an independent examination supervised by neutral authorities.

As the conversation continues online and offline, what is now on record from the Adeleke family’s official position is that, based on verified DNA evidence, Davido is not the biological father of Anuoluwapo Adeleke and that the matter should be laid to rest.
