Arsenal Extend League Lead With Convincing 2–0 Win Over Brentford

Arsenal strengthened their position at the top of the Premier League table on Wednesday night after a composed 2–0 victory over Brentford at the Emirates Stadium. The result restored their five-point lead and showed the discipline and maturity now visible in Mikel Arteta’s squad.

Arsenal started brightly, moving the ball with confidence and forcing Brentford to sit deep from the opening minutes. Their early pressure paid off in the 11th minute when Mikel Merino met Ben White’s well-delivered cross and guided a firm header past the Brentford goalkeeper. The early goal put Arsenal on an advantage and they dominate the game.

Brentform tried to fight but was not having much of clear chance, Arsenal’s defense was well-organised despite ongoing injury concerns, closing passing lanes and winning key duels in midfield. While Brentford enjoyed brief moments of pressure, they never truly threatened David Raya’s goal.

As the match was going, Arsenal remained calm and waited for the right openings. When Bukayo Saka added the second goal, putting the result beyond doubt. His finish summed up Arsenal’s attitude on the night m composed, organised and sure of themselves.

Merino’s early opener gave the team momentum, while Saka’s late strike confirmed their control.

Brentford’s inability to break Arsenal’s shape was a major difference. The visitors worked hard but lacked cutting edge in the attacking third, leaving Arsenal largely untroubled at the back.

For Arteta, this victory is another solid boost in a tight title chase. Even with some important defenders missing, Arsenal stayed composed and managed the game with the confidence of a team that knows exactly what the season demands at this stage.

Brentford, meanwhile, are still battling with their poor away results. If they don’t sort things out soon, the pressure could push them further down the table.
