Anthony Joshua Injured in Fatal Ogun Crash; Two Close Associates Lose Lives
British-Nigerian boxing icon Anthony Joshua was involved in a serious road collision on Monday, December 29, 2025, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, leaving two people dead and several others injured.

The former two-time heavyweight world champion, 36, was travelling in a black Lexus SUV when the vehicle collided with a stationary truck near the Makun area, close to Sagamu on the busy expressway.
Eyewitness accounts and police reports state that the SUV lost control during an overtaking attempt, smashed into the truck, which caused the vehicle to be severely damaged. Officials and emergency responders arrived swiftly, evacuating the occupants.Joshua, who was seated in the rear of the SUV, sustained minor injuries and was quickly taken to a nearby hospital for medical evaluation.Authorities said he did not require emergency surgery and is in stable condition under observation.
Two of the people who died in the crash have been identified as close friends and key members of Joshua’s team — Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele. Both men who were members of his inner circle, contributing significantly to his training activities as a professional boxer
The Ogun State Police Command confirmed the fatal accident, disclosing that five adult males were involved; two died at the scene, one was injured (Joshua), and two others were unhurt.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said preliminary investigation points to excessive speed and an unsafe overtaking maneuver as likely causes of the crash, underscoring the dangers of traffic violations on high-speed corridors.
While the formal inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the crash continues, Authorities have transferred the bodies to Livewell Hospital Morgue in Sagamu
