Algeria Beat DR Congo 1–0 After Extra Time to Reach AFCON Quarter-Finals

Algeria booked a place in the quarter-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after edging past DR Congo 1–0 following extra time in their Round of 16 meeting in Rabat.

The match ended goalless after 90 minutes, with both teams struggling to create scoring opportunities in a match characterized by organization and tactical defending. The breakthrough finally came in extra time when a goal by Adil Boulbina breached the Congolese defence.

Algeria had control of possession and pressed for a breakthrough, while DR Congo remained compact and difficult to break down. Despite a handful of openings, the North Africans had to wait until extra time to secure the win.

The result sends Algeria into the last eight and keeps their tournament run alive. DR Congo bow out at the Round of 16 stage after a strong showing in the group phase.
